Christa A. Hasenkopf

Director, Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) and Air Quality Programs, Energy Policy Institute, University of Chicago

 


Christa Hasenkopf was elected to the Board of Trustees by the Alumni effective July 1, 2022. A 2003 Penn State alumna, she serves as director of Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) and Air Quality Programs for the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.

Hasenkopf has worked at the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State. She also cofounded OpenAQ, an environmental nonprofit that houses the world’s largest open air quality database.

Hasenkopf has mentored Eberly College of Science students for nearly a decade through the college’s alumni mentor program. She has been recognized with the Eberly Outstanding Alumni Award and the Schreyer Honors College’s Outstanding Scholar Alumni Award.

Hasenkopf earned a bachelor’s degree in Astronomy & Astrophysics from Penn State and received a Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Colorado.
