Richard S. Sokolov

Vice Chairman, Simon Property Group

Richard Sokolov was elected to the Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2022, representing Business and Industry. A 1971 graduate of Penn State, he is vice chairman of Simon Property Group, the largest owner of retail real estate in Pennsylvania, having served as president and chief operating officer from 1996 to 2018.

Sokolov served as chair of the “A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence” campaign, which raised more than $2.16 billion for Penn State. His charitable support to Penn State includes endowing the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center.

Sokolov has been recognized with the Penn State Alumni Fellow Award and the Distinguished Alumni Award.
