Robert F. Beard

Robert Beard was elected to the the Board of Trustees effective July 1, 2023 representing business and industry.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering and master’s degree in Management from Penn State and is a licensed professional engineer.  Beard serves as chief operations officer of UGI Corporation. He’s worked with UGI since 2008, where he began as the vice president of the southern region for UGI Utilities Inc. and moved to a variety of other roles within the company, including executive vice president of natural gas, global engineering and construction, and chief executive officer of UGI Utilities Inc. He also has served as chief executive officer of Mountaineer Gas Company and vice president of operations and engineering at PPL Gas Utilities Corporation. Robert and his wife Laura created the Robert F. and Helen D. Beard memorial scholarship at Penn State Scranton campus where he serves as a member of the Penn State Advisory Board.  He is a life member of the Penn State Alumni Association and was also named an Alumni Fellow in 2014.
